Next European Bison transport
Since 2007 the European Bison Friends Society organized a few international transports of European bison in the area of Europe. In 2007 it was exchange of German lowland-Caucasus bison to Polish representatives of lowland line. In 2008 EBFS helped in establishing of first European bison breeding center in Hungary, in Fuzerkomlos, in the north, where animals from polish breeding centers and zoological gardens were transported. During the fall of the same year we organized and coordinated the operation which gathered institutions from 4 other countries. 
In Romanian village Vama Buzaului, near Brasov, another breeding center was established. Selected animals from Switzerland, Italy and one Austrian cow with a calf were moved there. This event was publicized and made part of the campaign promoting economical development of the region, where the center was established, as it is one of the poorest mountain regions in the country. In spring of 2009 EBFS organized exchange of animals between Polish zoological gardens and German Tierpark in Gera. The animals from the latter were taken to Ukrainian reintroduction project in Eastern Carpathians.
In 2009 EBFS coordinated establishment of the second Hungarian breeding center, near the Nagykanizsa village and Slovakian border. To this beautiful place 3 males from wild population of Białowieża National Park and 2 males from Pszczyna breeding center were transported. The area was previously checked out by EBFS representatives. 700 ha of deserted area of meadow and forests covering picturesque hills, were devoted to European bison. The nature in the area is very interesting; several ungulates live there: wild boar, roe deer, red deer, fallow deer and mouflon. 
The diversity of species in the area is really astonishing. The big enclosure includes nests of black stork and white-tailed eagle, what underlines the richness of environment. Our bison has just to adapt to different climatic conditions close Adriatic makes the temperatures in summer higher during longer period than in Poland. Nevertheless it is worth to remember that in the past wild European bison was roaming freely near the Mediterranean Sea. Breeding centers appearing in the countries, where there was any, may in future allow to rebuild numerous populations of the species.
